A PAN and an Aadhaar card hold immense significance as valid ID and address proofs in India for every Indian resident. PAN card is widely accepted nationwide as legal ID proof and used by the Income Tax department to track monetary transactions. Similarly, an Aadhaar card contains biometric verification of individuals and serves as ID/address proof.

Every taxpayer in India must link their PAN card with their Aadhaar card. However, the PAN card linking last date was 30th June 2023. Most people already linked the two significant cards as required, while many are still in the process of doing so. If you have missed the deadline and have not yet linked your PAN with Aadhaar, you may do so by paying a challan of INR 1000 and by requesting an Aadhaar-PAN link through the right channel. If your PAN and Aadhaar are not linked soon, the PAN card will likely be deactivated and become inoperative.

Hence, everyone must ensure their PAN and Aadhaar cards are linked. Even if your PAN has become inoperative, you can activate it by paying the fine and requesting the linking of PAN-Aadhaar.

The post here talks about the procedure to link Aadhaar with PAN online after the due date and other significant information.
