  • Repair – The insurance of your e-bike covers you for the damages in your bike by paying for the repairs.
  • Bike theft – If your e-bike is stolen the insurance aid you by covering for the theft.
  • Fire – In case of any accident caused due to fire, the insurance provider covers you for the same.
  • Calamity – The e-bike insurance also covers against any damages caused to your bike due to a calamity of nature such as earthquake, flood etc.

What all things are not covered under e-bike insurance?

  • The policy will not cover for your personal/bodily damages if you have not opted for the comprehensive plan, and only have a third-party insurance.
  • It will not cover for any damages if you drive your e-bike under the influence of any intoxicant drug or alcohol.
  • It will not cover for the fines levied on you for driving your e-bike without a valid license.
  • It doesn’t cover for any loss that is not mentioned in the policy papers or if the damage is caused due to your negligence.
  • If you buy a third-party insurance without any coverage for yourself, u can’t raise claim for your personal injury costs from the insurer. Only the third-party liabilities will be covered by the insurance.
  • In case your insurance expires and you didn’t renew it, the insurer will not cover for any damage of your bike after the policy expires.

Procedure to raise claims under e-bike insurance

Here are the steps to follow:

  • Notify the insurance provider about the details of damage received by your bike and how the damage took place.
  • Get as many pictures on the spot of the damages to keep as proof to help you with online raising of claim.
  • Keep all documents readily available to provide to the insurer when asked to submit.
  • The insurance provider will send a person to inspect the damages and to find out the reason. Once the inspection is satisfactorily done, the process of claim will be proceeded.
  • If the inspector is satisfied with the process of inspection, they will pay you the compensation for the damage caused to your e-bike as per the amount of sum insured of your policy.

Procedure to renew e-bike insurance

Here’s the steps to follow:

  • Go to insurance provider’s official website
  • Submit details – name, registration and policy number etc.
  • Go to the ‘Renew’ option
  • Check the details once again that you have submitted for any corrections
  • Add/remove riders as per need
  • Check the premium amount as per your new features added
  • Check the updated amount of premium
  • Make the payment online
  • The policy will be renewed and you will receive a confirmation email/message
