It is very important to complete the process of bike registration for a new bike by using the portals of RTO (Regional Transport Office) and Vahan.

What are the Different Types of Vehicle Registration Numbers in India

In India, you have two kinds of registration numbers for vehicles including new bike registration. These two types are permanent and temporary. You get the temporary number before you get the permanent one. The temporary numbers usually have a validity of a month. However, once you get the permanent number from the RTO it means that your ownership of the two-wheeler is firmly established. This also indicates that the bike has been identified based on its chassis and engine numbers.

If you want to check the status of your new bike registration you would first have to visit the Vahan website and click on the button that says “application status”. After that, you would have to feed the application number, followed by a click on the button that says “view report”. This will show you the status of your application.

Ways to Get a Duplicate Registration Certificate of Your Bike 

As far as your new bike registration goes the registration certificate of your bike is one of the most important critical documents. The Motor Vehicle Act 1988 mandates that you carry with it all the time that you are driving the bike. However, if it gets stolen or if it gets lost you need to get a duplicate copy by visiting the RTO office or Parivahan Sewa.

How to Renew Your Vehicle Registration?

Following are some of the steps that you have to take to renew your bike registration:

  • Visit the Vahan website
  • Click on “Vehicle-related services” from the dropdown menu named “Online Services”
  • Enter the registration number
  • Click on the button that says “Proceed” followed by “Renewal Registration”
  • Enter the final five digits of the chassis number of your vehicle
  • Click on the button that says “Validate Registration Number/Chassis Number”

  • Form 25 for application
  • PAN card copy
  • RC (registration certificate) book
