What Do You Mean by Liver Function Test Normal Range?

The LFT normal values show ALT between 7 to 55 units per liter (U/L). If the range shown in the result is beyond this, the ALT may not be in the normal range. So, when the normal range of your liver functions tests are above or below the prescribed range, it may be a cause of concern.

Below are the normal liver function test prescribed by doctor to check your liver health:

Alanine Transaminase (ALT) –  For females, the ALT value should be 25 units per liter and for males it should be 33 units per litre as shown in the liver functions test normal values. So, if the ALT levels are more than the liver function test normal range, it might get released into the blood.

Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) –  The liver function test normal range chart for AST levels should be 36 units per liter for adults and slightly high in children and teenagers.  These are again very important and are available in different body parts such as liver, heart, pancreas, brain, muscles etc. In case of liver damage, the levels of AST may not show LFT normal range.

Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) – For ALP, the liver function test normal range has to be within 20 to 140 units per liter. These are also essential enzymes thriving in the liver as well as bones and bile ducts. By maintaining the ALP level in blood the bile duct can be managed.

Albumin Test – For albumin, the liver function test normal range goes from 35-50 grams per litre. The liver creates this component to control the tissue nourishment, for hormone transport, etc. It is an important protein and getting an albumin test one can track the way the liver creates this protein.

Bilirubin Test – Bilirubin liver function tests normal range should be between 0.1 to 1.2 milligrams per deciliter. This is a waste byproduct that goes through your liver before getting out of the body via stool.  This is created by breaking the RBCs down.
