It aimed to reduce the burden of healthcare costs and costs of hospitalization faced by the poor and needy households. Below are the features of Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana:

  • The PM Ayushman Bharat Scheme is a health insurance policy meant for families, especially the lower income groups
  • The scheme allow a cover of INR 5 lakh for each family per year
  • The scheme has already covered over 10.74 crore poor and economically vulnerable households across India
  • The scheme is specially designed for people living below the poverty line
  • The policy doesn’t have any limit on the size of the family as well as the age of members
  • The policy give priority to senior citizens, women and the girl child
  • The policy offer cashless treatment to the insured family in all the public hospitals as well as some  private hospitals that are empanelled under the plan
  • The scheme allow coverage for charges that are related to tertiary as well as secondary health care
  • It give coverage against surgery, day care procedures, medicine cost, diagnostics and so on

Eligibility Criteria for PMABY scheme under Rural Categories

Under the Rural categories, below mentioned entities are covered under the Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme:

  • People living in a single room with kuccha (not cemented) roof and walls
  • Households in the landless category who earn by manual labor
  • Households headed by female members only, or families with no adult male earning member within the age group of 16 to 59 years
  • Families with one disabled member or without healthy adult member
  • ST/SC households
  • Families who have no shelter
  • People who are living on alms
  • Families who earn by manual scavenger
  • Tribal households
  • Legally released bonded labor (if proves) etc.

Eligibility Criteria for PMABY scheme under Urban Categories

Under the Urban Categories, below mentioned entities are covered under the Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme:

  • Rag pickers
  • Beggars
  • Domestic workers
  • Street vendors such as cobblers, hawkers and other service people working on the streets
  • Also people who work as construction workers such as Plumbers, Masons, Painters, Welders and security guards etc.
  • Workers who work with head-loads like coolies etc.
  • Also, gardeners, sweeper and sanitation workers
  • People who have a home-based work profile such as handicrafts workers, tailors etc.
  • Besides, drivers, transport workers, conductors, helpers,  rickshaw or cart pullers etc.
  • People working in shops, delivery assistants, peons, attendants, waiters etc.
  • Also, people who work as electricians, mechanics, repair workers and so on

Not Eligible Candidates for PMABY – People Who Are Not Eligible For Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Ayushman card apply online cannot be done for the following people:

  • People who own a vehicle – two-wheeler, three-wheeler, car etc.
  • Families with one or two members working as government employee
  • Families with per month income of INR 10,000 or beyond
  • Income tax payers
  • Professional tax payers
  • Households who own a house with roof and pucca wall with 3 or more rooms
  • Households who own a refrigerator
  • Household who owns landline phone
  • People who own agricultural land of 5 acres or more

Below are the steps to follow for the Ayushman Bharat Card Apply Online process:

  • To check the Ayushman card online eligibility or to see if you are eligible for the scheme, one can visit the official website of the scheme at mera.pmjay.gov.in
  • Go to ‘Am I Eligible’ tab
  • Now, enter mobile number and generate an OTP
  • Once generated, enter the number on the required slot to get verified. You will reach the PMJAY page
  • Now, select your state that you are applying from
  • As per your comfort, you can check the eligibility through mobile number, ration card etc.
  • If eligible, you can see your name on the right of the page
  • check the details of beneficiary by tabbing at the family member button
