NOC or No Objection Certificate is required if a bike owner is selling his/her bike or is relocating with the bike to a new city. In this post, let us understand the process of getting an online NOC for bikes in India.
We already know that every legal task in India is required to be documented. So, be it any formality of buying, selling of a property, vehicle etc., you need to have paperwork documented in the form of a letter issued by the respective departments or authorities. Similar to all other buying and selling formalities, selling your bike also requires issuing a letter in the form of NOC or No Objection Certificate. Also, if you are moving to a new city and want to take your bike along, even in that case you need a NOC issued so that you can get your bike registered in the new city. In case of selling a bike, the NOC is needed to register the bike in the name of the new owner.
Thus, the NOC is an important document that the vehicle owner must avail from the respective authority. Let’s find out how to get NOC for a bike online in India. But before that let’s start with what NOC for a bike is and how to get NOC for bike?
In the case of bikes, if the current owner of the vehicle is selling the vehicle to another owner or the person is relocating to another city with the bike, he/she is required to seek an NOC from the RTO or Regional Transport Office and the bank. The NOC for bikes states that there is no objection in terms of the bike being relocated. Further, if the owner wants to sell the bike, he/she is required to obtain the NOC from the bank regarding the loan repayment. So, in both conditions of selling the bike and registering the bike with a new RTO, obtaining an NOC is a compulsory requirement.
As per the Motor Vehicle Act of India, it is obligatory for every bike owner to get an NOC from the current RTO to submit at the new RTO to register the bike at the new transport office in case of relocating to a new city with the bike.
Similarly, you need to obtain NOC at the time of vehicle ownership transfer.
A vehicle ownership transfer is possible in the below situations:
In the above cases, availing NOC from the old RTO becomes essential, to confirm the legitimacy of the ownership transfer of the vehicle.

To Conclude
A No Objection Certificate for a bike is an essential document required for both buying-selling as well as relocation of the bike. However, if you have financed your bike from a bank and you want to sell your bike to another person, you must seek an NOC from your bank because without the bank NOC the RTO will reject your NOC request.
On the other hand, in case of transfer/relocation of vehicles from one place to another, no bank NOC is required.
