National Doctor’s Day in India, the day is celebrated on July 1 to commemorate the birth anniversary of physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy who was renowned for his work in the field of medicine, education, social work, philanthropy, politics and more. He was the first Chief Minister of West Bengal after independence and served in that position for over 14 years.  Born in 1882 in Patna, Bihar, Dr. Roy was a recipient of India’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna in 1961.

Coming back to National Doctor’s Day, it is celebrated every year on different dates in different countries. The day is observed to honor doctors and physicians who perform a daunting task in the field of medicine to save millions of lives day and night.
